Celebrating Earth Day: Honoring ILM’s Sustainable Businesses

FluentPR offices are in beautiful downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.  The Cape Fear region is stunning – the stuff of movies, TV shows and novels. It’s also a great place to do business.

We thought that Earth Day would be the ideal time to honor companies that make it a focus to keep Wilmington livable. We know there are a lot of companies that deserve a shout out, but if we wrote of all of them we’d be creating an encyclopedia! So, just to get you thinking, here are three to thank today:

Cape Fear Solar Systems recently opened a new facility in Wilmington. This home grown, turn-key solar systems installer has the largest number of installations in the coastal North Carolina region. They work not only to deliver on renewable energy, but to be a partner for local homeowners and businesses.  Their experienced team can design a solar system that will meet different energy objectives.

Adam Shay, CPA is a strong and growing accounting firm in Wilmington. It’s easy to be sustainable when all the work you do is sitting at a desk, right? But Adam took his firm one step beyond and became a Certified B-Corporation. As such, they commit to high standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. As such, the firm is helping redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

The Wilmington Convention Center is not likely the first company you would think of when considering sustainability. But when it first opened in November 2010, the architects and developers made a point of pointing out their litany of inclusions when it came to environmental responsibility. A LEED-Certified building, bike racks, greenspace and use of recycled materials are just a few of the features that make our “business made casual” gathering space a location to honor on Earth Day.
